Chalk Ward

Cllrs Alan Ridgers, Jordan Meade & Leslie Hills at Chalk

Lower Thames Crossing in Chalk

I will continue to defend Chalk against the detrimental effects of the Lower Thames Crossing. In the local Conservative Party, our MP Adam Holloway, myself and other councillors vigorously campaigned against Option C, however it is now happening and I will work hard to mitigate adverse impacts on our residents and Green Belt countryside.

Defending our Green Belt in Chalk

I will do my utmost to protect our Green Belt and prevent any ‘Extension of the Urban Barrier’. I will defend the ‘Strategic Gap’ between East Gravesend and Medway and stop Chalk Marshes from becoming another ‘Crossways Business Park’.

Supporting the Residents of Chalk

I will continue dealing with local casework by email and regular attendance of weekly meetings in the Village Hall. Also, chairing quarterly meetings with police, PCSO’s, the Community Warden and Local Councillors. I will continue to update residents with my monthly article in the village magazine. I shall also continue to support Chalk clubs and local projects.

Health, Wellbeing and Safety

I will promote health and wellbeing with local organisations, in addition to protecting our local environment. Chalk has the lowest crime figures in Gravesham and I will retain Chalk as the safest ward in the borough.

Village Sign and Roads

I will fight hard with Kent Highways for further improvements to our roads, pavements and deal with overgrown vegetation. I shall, with the assistance of others, complete and install the new village sign, to which I have organised funding.

Farm Tax

Sanding up for Farmers at KCC

Monday, 23 December, 2024
Kent’s Farms are critical. That’s why earlier in December; Cllr Jordan Meade took a motion to County Hall calling on Labour to #BackFarmers here in Kent and reverse the #FamilyFarmTax - A cruel and regressive policy that will decimate British farming and undermine our food security.
