Cllr. Derek Ashenden is a member for Riverview ward at Gravesham Borough Council.  

Derek is the Chairman of Gravesham Conservative Association.                             

Derek is passionate about healthcare and the protection of our greenbelt.

He was born and raised in Gravesend and has lived on Riverview Park for over 36 years. He is chairman of the Patient Participation Group for the Riverview and the Shrubbery surgeries.

Now retired, Derek started his working life as an apprentice printer for the Gravesend Reporter. During his career he held many senior management positions including being Senior Production controller of seven national newspapers.

In his spare time, Derek repairs clocks and watches. He is also a Hi-Fi enthusiast and enjoys listening to most genres of music
