Cllr Jordan Meade said:
'I would like to thank the hundreds of residents who have made contact with me and my ward colleagues Cllr Leslie Pearton and Cllr Helen Ashenden regarding Highparks Medical Practice's proposal to close the GP surgery in Higham. As your Ward Councillors we wholeheartedly oppose the proposed closure and have been working to do all that we can to support our village in voicing their concerns to the appropriate bodies.
Yesterday morning, I spoke at the Health Overview Scrutiny Committee of Kent County Council, where I made urgent representations to representatives of the ICB (Integrated Care Board), echoing many of the concerns that residents have raised with my ward colleagues and I over the past few days.
At the end of the clip, you can hear directly from the local health board representative who highlights the importance of residents in Higham to engage with the practice during this period of engagement. As of yet, no application has been received by the ICB and therefore we are strongly encouraging everyone affected to complete the Practice's survey:

Your ward councillors and I have further been working alongside your Parish Councillors Higham Parish Council to highlight your concerns at every level and together for Higham we will continue to work together in standing up for the importance if retaining GP facilities within the village. We are currently making urgent representations at all levels and to all appropriate decision makers. We are further going to write a detailed letter of objection to the Chair of the NHS Kent and Medway ICB, encompassing the views of everyone who has been in touch with us so far.
As I mentioned in my representations at County Hall yesterday, if this proposed closure is allowed to go ahead it will have a devastating affect on our village and we therefore encourage everyone to engage in the process to #SaveHighamSurgery and please do keep in touch with us as your Ward Councillors on this via our details below:
Together we will continue to stand up for Higham'.
